White Greyhound of Richmond – finally, yet another beast from the lineage of Edward III features with the White Greyhound of Richmond. This beast comes from John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster and father of the future King Henry IV from the House of Lancaster. John of Gaunt was a son of King Edward III and it was King Henry VII who would prominently use the White Greyhound in his Royal Arms. The shield the beast supports is that of the House of Tudor, a double rose topped by a crown, a symbol of the union of the House of Lancaster and House of York following the Wars of the Roses.
